Jewish Genetics, Ancestry March 5 @ Coffee TalkTBY congregant Dr. Elizabeth Chao, Assistant Professor of Genetics & Genomics at UCI Medical Center and Dr. Julie Neidich, proud TVT parent, Brain Health Alliance director, and Medical Geneticist will lead an informational session on Jewish genetic diseases and testing on Sunday, March 5 at 9:00am in the library. Drs. Neidich and Chao will explore the history and migration of the Jewish people as supported by genetic data. They will also share recent advances in genetics that help individuals and couples obtain more accurate information regarding genetic disorders to decrease the prevalence of affected individuals and allow for informed decision-making. Teens, parents of teens, and adults of child-bearing age are encouraged to attend.
This information session is sponsored by the Victor Center for the prevention of Jewish genetic disease. Their goal of outreach and education is to promote preconception genetic screening and counseling as a standard practice among healthcare providers and among Jews of childbearing age.
NFTY 678 Registration Open - The NFTY 678 West Coast Party Jr. which was rained out several weeks ago is rescheduled for March 17-19 at Camp Newman in Santa Rosa.
